The Train Ticket Cancellation Charges & Refund Rules are:

1. Train ticket cancellation charges of Confirm Ticket

The cancellation charge of a confirmed train ticket depends on the time of cancellation and type of ticket.

(a). If the ticket is canceled more than 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, the cancellation charge will be deducted as below.

  • AC First / Executive Class =  240 Rs.
  • First Class / AC 2 Tier =  200 Rs.
  • AC 3 Tier / AC Chair Car / AC 3 Economy = 180 Rs.
  • Sleeper class = 120 Rs.
  • Second Class = 60 Rs.

(b). If the ticket is canceled 48 to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, 25% of the total value of the ticket will be canceled. The level of allegations lodged above the indictment applies to the class of the movement.

(c). If the ticket is canceled 12 to 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, 50% of the total value of the ticket will be canceled. The allegations of the above-recorded level of indictment apply to the class of the movement.

(d). If the ticket is canceled after the chart preparation, no refund of the ticket will be admissible on the ticket, if the ticket does not confirm the cancellation or according to the IRCTC website, up to four hours before the scheduled departure of the train. Is not recorded online.

2. Train ticket cancellation charges of Waiting List & RAC Ticket

The cancellation charge of the waiting list & RAC ticket will be deducted as below.

  • AC First / Executive Class =  120 Rs.
  • First Class / AC 2 Tier =  100 Rs.
  • AC 3 Tier / AC Chair Car / AC 3 Economy = 90 Rs.
  • Sleeper class = 60 Rs.
  • Second Class = 30 Rs.

Cancellation of the waiting list & RAC tickets will be allowed up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train if it is booked from the PRS counter.

If it is booked through the IRCTC website and is still waiting after preparation of the chart, such tickets will be canceled automatically through the IRCTC system, And the full refund will be credited to your bank account without any deductions.

3. Train ticket cancellation charge of Confirm Tatkal Ticket

If you cancel the confirmed Tatkal ticket then no refund is given by the Indian railway. You can cancel the Tatkal list and RAC ticket under the Tatkal ticket.

4. Train ticket cancellation charges of  TQWL ( Tatkal Quota Waiting List )

Cancellation of the Tatkal waiting list & RAC tickets will be allowed up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train. The cancellation charge will be deducted as per existing Indian Railway rules.

5. Train ticket cancellation charges if the train is canceled

If the train is canceled for any reason such as an accident or weather problem, a full refund is allowed in case of ticket cancellation within three days of the scheduled departure of the train.

If you have an e-ticket, the refund will be automatically credited to the bank account within 3 to 7 days. And if you have a PRS counter ticket then you have to collect the refund from the PRS counter.

6. Train ticket cancellation charges if a train is late for more than 3 hours

A full return is allowed if the train is running more than 3 hours late and the passenger does not travel.

If you have an e-ticket, you have to fill the TDR before departure of the train. And if you have a PRS counter ticket, you will have to surrender your ticket at the journey starting station and get a refund from the counter.

If you have booked TQWL online from the IRCTC website, the ticket automatically gets canceled and you can get the ticket payment within a maximum of one week. If you have booked a ticket from the PRS counter, you can cancel your TQWL ticket before the 30-minute departure of the train.

2. Is the waiting Tatkal ticket refundable?

Yes, the Waiting Tatkal ticket is refundable. If you are booking from the PRS counter, you can cancel your TQWL ticket before the 30-minute departure of the train.
